About Australian Pompe Association

The Australian Pompe Association is dedicated to supporting the needs of Australian Pompe patients, their families and Carers. The APA was founded by four dedicated patients in 1997, Helen Walker, Bet Cook, Bob Morrison and Gloria Halliwell who were committed to fighting for the Australian Pompe Cause.

Over the years our numbers have increased and we now represent the interests of sixty-six Australians who suffer from Pompe Disease and their families. As patients ourselves, we are very aware of how devastated and isolated one can feel when that diagnosis has been made, and you come to realise that you have a very rare and debilitating disease.

We have been there, and know that you will have many questions, and how difficult it can be to find the answers. The Australian Pompe Association hopes to help you with some of those questions or point you in the right direction.
